State Highway 2, Waitakaruru has reopened following an earlier serious crash involving two vehicles.
Police were called to a two vehicle collision at 2.15pm. Two people have been seriously injured in the crash.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

Emergency services are in attendance at a serious crash on State Highway 2 near Waitakaruru.
Police were called to a two vehicle collision at 2.15pm. Indications are that two people have been seriously injured in the crash.
SH2 is closed between Okaeria Road and the SH25 roundabout and diversions are in place. Police advise motorists to expect delays and avoid the area if at all possible.
The Serious Crash Unit have been notified.

Police are now in a position to release the name of the man killed in a crash on Lewis Pass Road on Sunday 26 December.
The man killed was 62-year-old John Osborne of Rangiora.
Police’s thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.
