Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road eastbound lanes closure

The Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road (SH2) eastbound lanes between Pāpāmoa and Paengaroa (towards Whakatāne / Rotorua) will be closed between 5.30am and 1pm on Saturday 20 January 2024 for the cycle-leg of the Tauranga Half Triathlon which is part of the Mount Festival of Multisport.  

This is the fourth year the event has used the Toll Road lanes for the cycle leg and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is pleased to be able to support the on-going success of the event. 

The alternative route for motorists during this time is via Te Puke Highway.

Minor delays may be experienced for Toll Road users during this time and traffic management will be in place at the Domain Road interchange and Paengaroa roundabout.

The westbound lanes between Paengaroa and Pāpāmoa will operate as usual.   

For safety reasons, the Paengaroa roundabout will be closed to spectators and traffic management will be in place. The best place to watch the event is along Marine Parade and Oceanbeach Road, Mount Maunganui.

Serious crash – Waioeka Road

Emergency services are responding to a serious vehicle collision on Waioeka Road.

Police were notified at 7:18.

Initial indications suggest several people have been injured.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, diversions will be in place for some time.

Dillons Point Road and Lane Street are closed due to a nearby bush fire.

Police were alerted at 1:21pm of a bush fire near the river, that appears to be spreading quickly.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

State Highway 1 southbound is closed from the Beach Road off-ramp to the Great South Road on-ramp following a serious crash.

Police were notified of the crash at 11:13am, involving multiple vehicles.

Two people have been seriously injured.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, detours are in place.

Bryce Street, Castlecliff is closed following a crash.

The single vehicle crash was reported to Police at 10:09am, there are no reported injuries.

The road will remain closed while the scene is cleared and power lines are restored.

Road closure – Appleby Highway, Tasman

Appleby Highway is closed near Rabbit Island while emergency services attend a crash involving three vehicles, reported at around 5.20pm.

Initial indications are that there have been injuries.

The road is likely to be closed for some time while a clean-up is undertaken. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, seek alternate routes and expect delays.
