State Highway 25 closed in Thames following crash

State Highway 25 is now open to all traffic so following a car crash in Thames earlier today.

The incident was first reported shortly after 4 pm, and the highway reopened around 7:30 pm.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi wants to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation while emergency services and contractors worked to clear the crash scene and reopen the road.

The highway is closed between Pahau and Mary Streets. Emergency services are at the scene.

Local road detours are available, and drivers must follow all directions from emergency services at the crash site.

Road users should plan extra time for their travel until the crash scene is cleared.

Crash, Cobham Drive

Motorists in Wellington are asked to avoid the Cobham Drive roundabout in Kilbirnie following a crash.

The crash, involving two vehicles, happened around 6:45 on the roundabout at the intersection with Troy Street.

Injury status of those involved is unknown at this stage, and while the roundabout is currently only partially blocked, it is likely to become fully blocked.

Motorists are asked to take alternate routes.

Traffic management in place on SH 73 near Kirwee due to vegetation fire

Emergency services are responding to a vegetation fire in paddocks on State Highway 73 (West Coast Road), near Kirwee in Canterbury.

The fire was reported at around 4.15pm today and at this stage is believed to have started due to sparks from a train travelling towards Darfield.

A diversion is in place at the intersection of State Highway 73 and Courtenay Road.

Motorists are asked to follow the directions of emergency services staff.
