Serious crash, SH2/Melling Link, Lower Hutt

Emergency Services are responding to a serious crash on SH2 at the intersection with Melling Link reported just before 5am. 

The vehicle is reported to have crashed into the barrier. 

One person has moderate injuries, two serious injuries and one is in a critical condition. 

The right northbound and right southbound lanes are expected to be blocked for some time. 

Motorist are advised to expect delays and delay travel where possible.

Clarification: Crash, Ngunguru Road

Police would like to clarify the diversion in place for motorists after the serious crash on Ngunguru Road.

Drivers travelling between Tutukaka and Whangarei can take Matapouri and Marua Roads through Hikurangi, rather than Whananaki South Road as indicated earlier.

Serious Crash Ngunguru Road, Glenbervie

Emergency services are responding to a two-vehicle crash on Ngunguru Road, near East Rockingham Road, Glenbervie.

The crash was reported around 5:50pm.

Two people have received moderate injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours.

Motorists are advised to delay travel if possible.

If you are driving from the Tutukaka Coast you can take Whananaki South Road toward Hikurangi to access State Highway 1.

  • Travellers going through Picton need to be aware of ongoing work on Dublin Street. A closure is in place for approximately 20 months while a new overbridge is built. More details can be found on the Marlborough District Council website.
